FOUNDATION
Since its inception in 2007, the Knox County Public Library Foundation, a non-profit entity begun by Friends of the Library, has been able to accept large donations from those who wish to contribute financially to the library. Thanks to the leadership and funds provided by the Friends, the Library Foundation developed a fully functioning board, dedicated to providing private funding for a new central library for Knox County. The foundation's Mission Statement follows:
Because a strong public library is a necessity for a healthy and vital community, we established the Knox County Public Library Foundation. The foundation will collect, invest, and distribute funds donated for the improvement of the Knox County Library.
Having a foundation allows library supporters to solicit private funds for an eventual building campaign. Though this goal is outside the grass-roots mission of FOL, the two organizations are inextricably linked because of their common mission to support the library in whatever ways are needed. For more information about the Knox County Public Library Foundation, please call Ginna Mashburn at 584-0729. Foundation board members are eager to talk with you about wills and bequests or any other financial plans you wish to make.
Donations maybe made as contributions, memorials or bequests. Checks may be made out to Knox County Public Library Foundation and mailed to Friends of the Library, 500 W. Church Ave, Knoxville, TN 37902. For more information, please contact Mary Pom Claiborne at (865) 215-8767 or by email or Abby Wintker at (865) 215-8775 or by email.
